MegaPre™: a precisely targeted prebiotic
Prebiotic products, such as MegaPre, address a very real problem: most of us do not consume enough prebiotic fibre on a daily basis. The modern diet is low in natural sources of prebiotics, leaving the gut microbiota literally ‘starved’.
A product like this:
- provides concentrated, carefully selected ingredients with prebiotic properties,
- promotes the growth of bacteria essential for the production of SCFAs (including butyrate),
- can be taken on its own (as ‘fuel’ for the gut) or in combination with a probiotic,
- helps people who genuinely want to look after their gut microbiota but are unable to stick to an ‘ideal diet’ every day.
MegaPre can therefore be incorporated into your daily pro-microbiome routine – alongside diet, sleep and exercise.
How MegaPre™ works – key bacterial groups
The power of MegaPre™ lies in four patented ingredients whose effectiveness has been clinically proven:
| Ingredient | Mechanism of action |
| Bimuno® (B-GOS) – galacto-oligosaccharides | It increases the number of Bifidobacterium by more than 60% and reduces levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines. |
| PreticX® (XOS) – xylo-oligosaccharides | It increases the levels of Bifidobacterium adolescentis and A. muciniphila, and improves glucose metabolism and insulin sensitivity. |
| Actazin® – green kiwi extract | A natural source of polyphenols and fibre; it stimulates bowel movements and the growth of Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium. |
| Livaux® – yellow kiwi extract | A proven increase in Faecalibacterium prausnitzii levels of up to 100% within 4 weeks. |
Unlike traditional dietary fibres, this combination of oligosaccharides acts biologically rather than mechanically – by stimulating beneficial bacteria and their metabolites, such as butyrate, which is crucial for the intestinal barrier and communication within the gut-brain axis.
The effects of MegaPre™:
- a 100% increase in the abundance of Faecalibacterium prausnitzii over 4 weeks,
- an 8,000% increase in the population of Akkermansia muciniphila in 5 weeks (!),
- an 80–140% increase in butyrate production (when used in combination with MegaSporeBiotic™),
- an increase in the Bifidobacteria population,
- In addition, an increase in the abundance of Prevotella and Lactobacillus was observed, accompanied by a decrease in Enterobacteria, Pseudomonas, Burkholderia, Desulfovibrio,
- an increase in SCFA production (mainly butyrate).
What does this mean?
- Improving the integrity of the intestinal barrier
- Modulation of the immune response and reduction of inflammation
- Effects on lipid and glucose metabolism
- Improved bowel motility
- Optimising digestion and nutrient absorption
Or even simpler?
- Better immunity,
- Greater control over body weight (the gut microbiota influences feelings of fullness and hunger),
- More regular bowel movements and improved stool consistency,
- Improved gut health (less pain, less constipation, less gas and bloating),
- A stronger immune system and improved well-being!
Why is MegaPre™ so effective?
✔️ MegaPre’s selective action
on specific groups of bacteria means it is not a “blanket, indiscriminate fibre”, but a targeted prebiotic that strengthens strictly defined bacterial populations with a beneficial metabolic profile.
✔️ Synergy with probiotics
Adding MegaPre™ to a probiotic:
- increases the survival rate of strains by up to several times,
- accelerates their proliferation and metabolic activation,
- stabilises colonisation,
- increases SCFA production,
- reduces the overgrowth of opportunistic microorganisms.
✔️ Restoring key functions of the microbiota following antibiotic treatment
Research into prebiotics of this type has shown:
- a quicker recovery of microbial diversity,
- an increase in the population of butyrate-producing bacteria (important in IBD and IBS-C),
- regeneration of the intestinal mucosa.
MegaPre™ – clinical application
✔️ After taking antibiotics and other medicines that adversely affect the microbiome.
Support to help speed up the recovery of the microbiota.
✔️ Constipation, bloating
: Improves stool consistency, regulates bowel movements, reduces discomfort and regulates bowel movement patterns.
✔️ Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD in remission)
Supporting butyrate production = supporting clinical remission (as part of treatment, not as a substitute for it).
✔️ Metabolic
disorders: Effects on blood glucose levels and lipid metabolism via SCFAs.
✔️ Immunity:
Increased Treg activity, reduced Th2 response, improved regulation of inflammation.
FAQ – customers’ most frequently asked questions about MegaPre™
How does MegaPre™ differ from ordinary fibre?
MegaPre™ is a targeted prebiotic, meaning it does not act on ‘the entire gut microbiota’ but specifically on certain beneficial groups of bacteria in the gut. Ordinary fibre mainly performs mechanical functions: it increases stool bulk and supports peristalsis. MegaPre™ has been designed to strengthen the bacteria responsible for butyrate production, intestinal barrier repair and maintaining microbiota balance – it acts more as a therapeutic tool than as ‘general fibre’.
What further sets it apart is the use of patented, clinically tested oligosaccharides with proven efficacy (Bimuno®, PreticX®) and two types of kiwi powder:
Actazin® is a powdered green kiwi (the ‘green kiwifruit’ variety), processed in such a way as to preserve the fibre, enzymes (including actinidin), cell wall polysaccharides and other bioactive components.
Livaux® is a powdered ‘gold kiwi’, processed in the same way, rich in fibre (soluble — pectin, and insoluble — hemicellulose/cellulose), polyphenols, vitamins and other bioactive compounds.
These are ‘low-fermentation’ prebiotic ingredients with a relatively mild effect. They can support the gut microbiome, SCFA production, bowel motility and gut comfort, potentially without the risk of excessive gas or bloating, which can be a problem with traditional prebiotics.
Can MegaPre cause bloating when you first start taking it?
Yes, this is a normal adaptive response. Prebiotics ferment in the large intestine, and fermentation naturally produces gas. In people with a ‘hungry’ microbiota, the initial bloating may be more severe, but it usually subsides after a few days.
How to reduce discomfort:
- start with half the dose,
- drink more water,
- increase the dose gradually,
- use it regularly, rather than just now and then.
How long do you need to use MegaPre™ before you see results?
The effects depend on the objective: regularity of bowel movements may become apparent after just 5–14 days; improved gut comfort and reduced bloating after 2–4 weeks; and restoration of the gut microbiota following a course of antibiotics after 4–12 weeks.
Can MegaPre™ be combined with any probiotic?
Yes, MegaPre is compatible with most probiotics. Its role is to provide ‘fuel’ for the bacteria we already have in our bodies and those we take in capsule form. This helps the probiotics survive better and work more effectively.
When is the best time to take MegaPre™?
At any time of day, but:
- on an empty stomach or with a meal,
- washed down with a sufficient amount of water,
- Use it every day at the same time.
The capsules can be opened and the contents sprinkled into a drink or yoghurt – this makes taking the supplement particularly easy for people who have difficulty swallowing and for young children.
